EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF WOMEN LEADERS
Welcome to the 5th annual Women in Mining & Resources Summit
The Minerals Council of Australia is pleased to be partnering with the Women in Mining and Resources Summit for the fifth consecutive year. This year’s event, held from 25 – 26 July in Perth, has a fantastic program of inspiring speakers and topics that will provoke thought and action.
As Chief Executive Officer of the MCA, which represents over 160 mining and mining services companies in Australia, I am so proud that more and more women have chosen to make their careers in Australian mining.
Over the last 15 years, we have seen a fivefold increase in the number of female managers in the mining industry and I am excited to welcome many more in the years to come.
Our industry has some of the best and brightest talent across Australia and we make sure to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness against bias and take action for equality.
The mining industry continues to work towards a culture that respects all people, is physically and mentally safe, eliminates sexual harassment, and stands up, supports, and cares for all those affected by unacceptable behaviour.
We are pleased to welcome the Full Stop Australia as this year’s charity partner. 10% of event proceeds will be donated to help put a full stop to sexual, domestic or family violence through support, education, and advocacy.
The mining industry is committed to creating a culture that encourages people to bring their whole self to work where they feel safe, valued and respected and we look forward to hearing your thoughts and discussions on this year’s theme
‘Step Up & Speak Out’.
We look forward to meeting you in July.

The Westin Perth | 25-26 July 2023

Taking time out of everyday activities to attend a 2 day conference is HARD. But it is totally worth it to re-energise, re-focus and re-new your commitment to yourself, your career, and your future. The 2022 event was beyond my expectations in terms of networking opportunity, inspiring presenters and just a chance to step back and see the bigger picture. I'm really grateful I had the opportunity to participate in this.

New this year
Our eagerly awaited annual Summit is returning this year with a new theme: Step Up & Speak Out.
The Women in Mining and Resources Summit 2023 is collectively driven by industry leaders to create a future in mining that attracts and retains diversity, allows authentic leaders a space to thrive, and prioritises psychosocial health. We want to
create an industry where individuals can voice their perspective and thrive as leaders and employees.
This year, our focus on psychosocial health is further broadened in response to the parliamentary report on sexual harassment, acknowledging that the industry’s approach to the issue is currently at an unacceptable standard.
The Minerals Council of Australia and Women Leaders Institute are partnering with Full Stop Australia, a charity providing support to adults and children impacted by sexual, domestic and family violence. 10% of event proceeds will be donated in pursuit of a safer future for women in our workplaces and communities.
We have curated a series of sessions to both celebrate effort and achievement of individuals and organisations, and simultaneously address the most pressing challenges faced by the industry.
